All women have a special wardrobe only for heels. In-spite of being painful, no women thinks of stopping or reducing its use. That is how people give more importance to looks and not health.
But you should be aware of the harm high heels are doing to you. Affects of using high heels on your body parts:
- LOWER BACK: The bend structure of our back, due to the spine is because of its ability to absorb shock, by reducing stress on the vertebrae. Wearing of heels affects the shape. Poor alignment leads to muscle overuse and cause Back pain.
- POSTURE: High heels put pressure on your forefoot. Due to which your lower body leans forward and your upper body leans backward to compensate the balance of your body.
- ANATOMICAL CHANGE: Stress on different points of your body can change the anatomy of your body itself. Such as shortening of calf muscles and thickening of tendons.
- Knees: Excess amount of pressure on knees can make them weak.
- Feet And Toes: Tight fitted heels tend to affect the shape of your feet due to regular use. This can lead to cramping of toes, numbness, tingling and pain.
- Ankles: Heels negate the shock absorbing mechanism of foot, which makes foot and ankle less stable, increasing the risks of sprain.
Lower the high heel problems, by following some preventive measures as below:
- Opt for flat heels. If you do not want to replace those high heels, try to set your limits to two inches.
- Don’t go for pointed toe heels, as they affect your body more.
- Avoid wearing heels for longer period of time.
- Go for shoes with leather insoles. They are more comfortable and prevent you from slipping.
- Stretch your feet before and after putting heels. If you find your legs swollen or sore, stretching will relieve the pain.
