Eating More Sugar Is Not Responsible For Making You A Diabetic Patient
We all have made our minds that people who eat more sugar and don’t exercise are more prone to the most common and killing disease- DIABETES. But to those who think this way, you are absolutely wrong about that fact. Diabetes is the cause of not being able to be insulin resistance and this is termed as METABOLIC SYNDROME. Your fat or your diet does not define you any of your diseases.
Since long time we have being believing that people who are obese and eat lot of sugar and starch are prone to diabetes and other diseases. Dr. Peter Attia from America, in his presentation with TED, gives his life experience about being himself a Diabetic patient even after following all healthy life hacks and tells us that we people are wrong about diabetes.
What Actually Causes Diabetes
Dr Attia on his discussion with TED gave the best answer to this question. He answered it with an example. We all get our legs banged by a table or anything everyday accidently. We know how much painful it is at that moment. After that we are only bothered about the wound. But it is not about the wound or the pain, it is about the healthy response of your body, where your immune cells rush to your relief to take care that your wound doesn’t end up in infection or something else. But after that we all are cared about the wound, the pain and the scars. We have invented hundreds of creams to cure the wound and the marks left and also thousands of pain killers. After all this, did we ever stop banging our feet accidentally on things? What if we take more care about the cause rather than the effect?
This is how we have considered wrong the cause and effects on diabetes.
Diabetes is caused when your body have reduced ability to cope up the excess amount of sugar. The insulin resistance ability. And this ability is not related at all with your obesity. Dr Attia specified that “obese people are less prone to diseases than lean people and that the population of lean people in the world is more than obese ones“. The reason being that obese people have more energy or resistance power to fight with the diseases.
Due to wrong understanding we blame the obesity and leave the real cause to its own way. Now imagine if we start fighting obesity and not bothering Insulin Resistance? We make our situation worse.
The immune systems in our body does not fight with the food we eat, it fights with the glucose, in other words the blood sugar. When our pancreas are not able to build up an amount of insulin required to fight up the sugar, it is then we become low in insulin resistance. This problem is a cause of another major problem METABOLIC SYNDROME.
Metabolic Syndrome is the name for a group of risk factors that raises your risk for heart diseases and other health problems, like diabetes, stroke, etc. So if you are suffering from Metabolic Syndrome you may get diabetes. This problem may be genetic or may be due to some other problems in your genes, but it is surely not because of your lifestyle or of what you eat . And to people who are worried about your not going obesity, take a time to think and not to judge yourself before you come to a decision.
