These machines are now installed all over the world making it convenient for us to have money wherever we are and whenever we want to.
The very first ATM opened in New York city in 1939. ATM has become the utmost requirement of every human. The demonetization of notes proved it strongly.
An ATM should not only be seen as a money machine. It does about hundreds of tasks before you deposit or withdraw money. Before any financial transaction, the ATM identifies you and knows all your account information. It first makes sure that you and your card is legal. Then find your account information and confirms your 4-digit PIN by connecting to your bank network. Finally accurately completes the transaction procedure.
It not only does this, but secures the large amount of money inside it. It has an onboard GPS that tracks whether anybody is trying to carry it away.

The reason behind the only 4 digit pin has a small story.
The man who is behind the development of ATM machine is a Scottish inventor, John Adrian Shepherd-Barron. He himself had decided to create a 6 digit password. But this idea of 6 digit pin had to be rejected because of his wife Caroline.
Funnily enough, the reason being that the longest string of numbers that she could remember was only four.
Yeah, it seems funny! Yet the fact remains the same!
But now the philosophy have quite changed about the 4 digit ATM pin. There are many banks that have started offering 6 pin code for debit cards. Due to the increasing number of hackers and theft cases, even the 6 digit passwords do not seen to be safe now a days.
