The Bajau peoples are known as the sea gypsies. The word Sea gypsies means that, an Austronesian ethnic group with about 2,000 to 3,000 members who maintain a nomadic, sea based culture. WHO IS BAJAU PEOPLES
Bajau peoples are a group of tribes lived in Philippines and Indonesia. They are living their entire life in sea. They usually live a sea born life style. Bajau people also known as sea nomads or sea gypsies. They made amazing villages in the middle of the ocean.
Children in Bajau tribe are like fishes. They spend their time on boats in the little age and starts hunting around the age of eight.

The Bajau peoples speak ten languages of the western malayo-polynesian language family. The most common languages of the Bajau is Sinama. Most of the Bajau people speak multiple languages. Bajau languages are usually written in the Jawi alphabet.
RELIGION OF BAJAU
The religions of Bajau are Sunni islam, forms of folk Islam, to animistic beliefs in spirits and ancestor worship. Syncretic is a form of folk islam. They believe that among their people are direct descendants of the prophet Mohammed. They also believe the God of the sea.

The culture of Bajau peoples are totally differ from others. The “Manuk Manuk Lambukun” is the most popular traditional songs of Bajau’s.There are several types of traditional songs, they include: runsai,isun isun, najat, syair,nasid, bua bua anak and tinggayun. This type of songs are usually sung during marriage celebrations.
