Crying Only Does Good To You
Tears are counted as one of those strong feelings that take you to a different place. Crying out of happiness or sadness both are very painful. Seeing people cry has been considered as the most emotional conditions after the feel of loss. Many people cry for small reasons like women and many control even if they do not want to like men. Women cry an average of 5.3 times per month whereas men cry an average of 1.3 times per month according to a study published in 2011 in the Journal of Research in Personality. Female tear glands are much smaller than men’s, which is why female shed more tears.
The Kinds Of Tears
Our body is made in such a way that everything it does has a reason and a similar related cause. Like wise we cry, not because we are sad, but when brain thinks it should.
There are three kinds of tears in our human eye.
- Basal Tears– Their job is to keep the eye hydrated, lubricated and remove out small dirt and dust from the cornea. They are manufactured at a rate of 1 to 2 micro-liter every minute.
- Reflex Tears– These protect the eyes from all kinds of irritants such as wind, smoke or onions.
- Psychic or Emotional Tears– These tears are triggered by emotional states. They are known to release some stress hormones in the brain like ACTH and Enkephalin that helps us relax, which is why we feel better after crying.
Usually people consider that crying makes them weak and so should not cry often. But researches have proved that there is nothing like a good cry to make you feel better. Not only this crying also has many other benefits as below:
- Clear Vision– We are undergoing so many eyesight issues now-a-days. Children are wearing glasses at a very early age. Our eyes are damaged due to getting excessively dry because of the extra amount of strain given to the eyes. Tears help lubricate our eyeballs and eyelids, thereby preventing dehydration of our various mucous membrane.
- Lowers Blood Pressure– Crying has been found to lower blood pressure and heart pulse rate immediately following therapy sessions during which patients were made to cry.
- Removes Toxins– Neuroscientist William Frey found in one study that emotional tears contained more toxic byproducts than tears of irritation or reflex tears.
- Reduces Manganese– Crying also reduces the manganese levels, a compound which affects mood and is found up to 30 times greater ratio than in blood.
- Lowers Stress– When we suppress tears, we increase our stress levels and contribute to diseases related to stress like blood pressure, heart problems and peptic ulcers. Tears help remove stress hormone like enkephalin and prolactin.
- Elevates Mood– Ever noticed after crying you feel better than what you were feeling while controlling your tears. Then why control them when they can help you to some extent!!!!
